18.12.2013. 00h

Workshop for OPTIMUS team was held in Belgrade on 16th December. The meeting was an opportunity to present the new team members to others, but also to discuss current results and project activities. Sladjana Karavdic Kocevic, OPTIMUS Director, addressed the members of the team with the words: "I am pleased that we gathered today to discuss the current project activities and results. One of the important results of the project is that the Decisions on Adoption of Recommendations for Administrative Simplification have been adopted in Novi Pazar, Kraljevo, Leskovac. Congratulations to all team members for this achievement. As you have noticed, new team members are among us and I hope that our organization will continue to grow in the future."

Two sessions of the meeting were related to previous results and implemented project activities. The Toolkit for Practitioners regarding the Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA) is expected to be finalized in the next period to be used by public employees at the local level.

Finalization of RIA example related to the problem of air pollution in the City of Uzice is also expected. Mr. Peter Vujadinovic, Head of the City Administration in the City of Uzice, contributes to the development of RIA and Toolkit for Practitioners.

During the workshop, design and functionality of Electronic Registry of administrative procedures were also presented. The first electronic Registry will be placed on the website of the City of Novi Pazar in the future. All team members participated in the discussion on its further improvement, by giving constructive suggestions.

Penultimate session dealt with the visibility and promotion of the project and OPTIMUS, through the participation of OPTIMUS in the Conference Better Regulation Delivery Office (BRDO) in London, and in the meeting of the Network of Heads of City/Municipal Administrations, organized by the SCTM in Belgrade. Velimir Zivkovic, OPTIMUS team member who took part in the work of the BRDO conference, presented the best practice of local government in the UK in terms of the regulatory environment in which businesses have the confidence to invest, and the citizens are properly protected. Also, the connection has been established with BRDO office and Association of municipalities in Great Britain.

Participation in the meeting of SCTM Network of Heads of Administrations is significant not only to present the project to other local governments, but also to enable other local governments in Serbia to realize the necessity of regulatory reform.
