An agreement on the implementation of the project “Improving Environment for Businesses at Local Level through Regulatory Reform” was signed between the City of Sombor, the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) and OPTIMUS- Center for Good Governance. Sombor is the fifth city to implement a project which is funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

At the meeting held on 15 April, which was attended by the Mayor of the City of Sombor, Nemanja Delic, Head of the City Administration, Irina Burka Parcetic, Head of the Office for Local Economic Development, SCTM representative Darko Drndic and representatives of OPTIMUS, Sladjana Karavdic Kocevic and Katarina Milanovic, mutual cooperation on the regulatory reform project was agreed.

Sombor is located in the northwest Serbia and has a population of 100,000. The city is located near the border crossing with Croatia and Hungary. Given its closeness to the European Union, Sombor has great potential for food exports. Closeness to the border crossing is the potential that allows foreign investors to quickly deliver goods produced in Serbia.

Regulatory reform will help increasing the competitiveness of Sombor and creating better conditions for investors, by simplifying procedures and by increasing the transparency of procedures and regulations, as well as by providing efficient services of the City administration.
