According to the words of the Mayor of the City of Kraljevo, Mr. Dragan Jovanovic, “Entire Serbia, including the City of Kraljevo, operates in a particular bureaucratic manner. Therefore administrative procedures take too much time. Great dissatisfaction of citizens as well as businesses and potential investors was present.

The situation has been significantly changed through implementation of this project. Majority of administrative procedures were reformed; taxes and fees were reduced or completely eliminated for 33% of procedures. Time for resolving these procedures has been decreased for 94%, which means that businesses will need half of time for processing certain administrative procedures.

The e-Registry is set up on the website of the City of Kraljevo, which means that citizens and investors will have at one place accurate and transparent information on documentation needed, taxes and the exact deadline for resolving the case. In this way, the City of Kraljevo is among six cities in Serbia who have improved the business environment. Essentially, this is beginning of a new non-bureaucratic era that allows the City Government to become a true transparent service for citizens, businesses and investors."

Sladjana Karavdic Kocevic, Director of OPTIMUS - Center for Good Governance highlighted: "The City Administration recognized the issue businesses have. Every recommendation provided by businesses in Kraljevo, and there were 42 in total, were accepted, and soon they will be realized. Improvements will specifically affect the business sector by saving more than 4 million euros on an annual basis for businesses through implementation of simplified administrative procedures. According to the results of the project, these are the savings in direct material costs and indirect costs related to waiting time for the case resolution.

I think that Kraljevo will continue on this track, due to the fact that regulatory reform is ongoing and that newly established Regulatory body will ensure that new procedures, coming as a result of changes in regulations, will pass through the obligatory “filter”, in accordance with reform.
